for a full upgrade, I need to download the last version from the web, I suppose.
And I hope there will be no impact on my current development.
Shouldn't be better to do the full upgrade ?

It's better to update to the latest version. There have been so many improvements, fixes and additions.
It's important to backup your current db + files before doing so.
