Mysql v Postgres

Given that mysql belongs to oracle and the latter is a profit making institution, would it be wise for someone to invest in building up an application on mysql when its fate is dictated by commercial factors?
Basically the question is, is there a plan b if mysql goes missing to be substituted by say postgres or we shall have to rebuild the entire application from scratch again? Having the option to choose the database like say Wavemaker is very useful indeed.
Thanks for your input.

Andina,

We are working on Nubuilder version 3 at the moment it uses the PHP Data Object which will cover a number of databases.
Hopefully it will be ready June or July.
