More teething troubles

Hi again,
So having got into the home screen with the 9 buttons I followed the instructions about importing course.zip contents. Two things I found:
1) I had to create a dbase in the phpMyAdmin page: nu4_course - your User Guide instructions say nothing about having to do this.
2) I had to import the .sql extracted from the course.zip: trying to import the .zip file didn't work.
[ SKIP THIS BIT IF YOU LIKE... various anomalies
Having followed everything else I now find that when I click the "Organizations" button on the "Main" tab it displays the table... but with no data whatsoever.
On p. 20 of the User Guide it appears to be the case that the "zzzz" tables (from nubuilder4.sql) have to be in the SAME database as the 3 "course" tables. There's no explicit mention of this in your instructions.
Oh NO! I deleted both tables in phpMyAdmin with a view to putting all tables in a single dbase called nu4_course... then imported both .sql files (nubuilder4.sql and course.sql).
Once again, the browsers (both Chrome and FF) are unable to display the login screen (just blank screen). Did a restart. Even created a new dbase, "nubuilder" and imported the "nubuilder4.sql" files. No dice with either browser. FF is displaying a blank screen, and Chrome is saying "This page isn't working... HTTP error 500" (Internal server error).
(few minutes later)
Oops... stranger and stranger. I deleted the dbase nuBuilder leaving only the dbase nbuilder4. Able to regain the nuBuilder login screen again.

Having deleted all nuBuilder dbases again and started again. Another attempt, another problem:
1. I set up a dbase "nubuilder4" with all the zzzz* tables
2. I set up a SECOND dbase, "nu4_course", with the zzzz* tables and the 3 course tables.
3. I managed to log into the nuBuilder login screen.
4. I followed the instructions about setting up a form - OK
5. I followed the instructions about setting up a button to run it - NO GO!
--> on the Home > Object screen, tab "Run", when I enter "org" in the "Run" box and then press the magnifying glass, not only is there no dropdown, but the text "org" gets deleted!
ENOUGH for today.
I also had a look at the FF inspector: Console, Debugger, Inspector tabs: no error output of any kind... Can you say where I find the PHP logger output for this?
Could you possibly have a look through the steps I took in the last attempt to get things going and say what you think might be going wrong? In particular, how many databases am I supposed to be creating, what are they meant to be called, and what tables are they meant to contain?
