Tip: phpmyadmin alternative: adminer

Unread post by ong19 »

Hi,

I notice, that clicking "database" from the developer menu opens some phpmyadmin.
I did not check, but maybe it's easier (and smaller) to use a diffent tool. My suggestion: adminer ( https://www.adminer.org ). This is a single file database administration tool.

Thanks for the tip!

I think that's what I like most about Adminer:
phpMyAdmin: More than 2000 files, Adminer: 1 file!
Why is Adminer better than phpMyAdmin?

Olaf and kev1n,

I'm not opposed to swapping from Phpmyadmin to Adminer (if it's better)... but we are just trying to get other things sorted out at the moment.

The ideas our users come up with are generally pretty good.

But implementing those ideas can be up to a hundred times harder.

according to that saying...
1 percent inspiration 99 percent perspiration
Especially when the perspiration needs to come from us.

We are making nuBuilder better as fast as we can.

- BTW, I don't mean to sound negative in any way at all!

I just wanted to explain our position to someone, kev1n, I know has been using nuBuilder Forte for a long time.

Hi amdin,

all good. I just wanted to make a suggestion and (I am still testing nuBuilder against other rapid dev tools) - the 99 percent perspiration you might put into further development instead of handling N phpadmin files :-)
Someone from the forum might suggest, that phpmyadmin is better known. Well, probably, but this should not be a reason not to take a look, as there are other rapid dev tools that are better known - and you are still developing a nu' one.

Maybe the tip is usefull.

Olaf,

I will surely play around with it and see if it would be a replacement for phpMyAdmin for me. The good thing about it is that you only need to upload one single file to the webserver and then you can use it immediately without any configuration.
