Select distinct in subform

I am trying to use "select distinct" in the SQL for a subform. I see from this post it might not work.
I am stuck because there is no Before Browse for a subform, and even then I have no primary key for the subform because of the select distinct and also, whatever I put in the SQL seems to be ignored!

Create a view and use it the subform's sql. Also see my answer in your other post as it's related.
