Intended user audience

Unread post by Red Ant »

Good day

I'm evaluating nuBuilder for a small web development company in South Africa and am very impressed with rapid development aspect of it.

They have the need for a stand alone PHP desktop solution and have gone quite far down the road of developing one in phpdesktop but were wondering if nuBuilder isnt a better solution for them. So I have a few questions around that for seasoned users please.

PHPdesktop uses SQLlite as its database.

Can nuBuilder be customized to connect to SQLlite? If so, are there some guidance documentations/tutorials available?

Can nuBuilder be customized to look and behave more like a modern website? If so does anyone have an example site one can look at please.

And finally, although I found a lot of tutorials on how to use the various functions of nuBuilder, I could'nt find any examples of a completely built solution. So I was wondering who the intended userbase for nuBuilder is. Business app developers? Website developers? Since it doesnt seem to be a "traditional" type of framework (think Wordpress or Joomla frameworks here as examples) I was wondering who would find the most benefit from it.

Thanks so much. I look forward to your comments and thoughts.

Best, Ant.

Hi,

nuBuilder is suitable for developers who need to create custom web-based (business) database application, such as CRM, ERP, inventory management systems, intranet pages, or project management tools quickly and efficiently. It provides a rapid development environment that simplifies the process of building database-driven applications, making it easier for developers to meet specific business requirements.

While nuBuilder is not a traditional CMS like WordPress or Joomla, it can be used by website developers who need to build custom web applications or add database-driven functionality to existing websites. nuBuilder's easy-to-use interface and low-code approach can speed up the development process and reduce the need for extensive coding.

nubuilder is primarily designed as a CRM, ERP, or database management tool rather than a standard website building platform. While it can be used to create and manage web content, its core functionality is centered around creating custom applications and streamlining business processes. For users looking to build a more traditional website, platforms such as WordPress and Joomla are better suited, as they offer a wide range of templates, plugins, and customisation options specifically tailored for website creation and maintenance.

nuBuilder can be a useful tool for IT departments and in-house development teams in various industries that need to build and maintain custom internal applications. The platform can help save time and resources by simplifying the development process and offering a user-friendly interface for managing database applications.

The reason you couldn't find examples of completely built solutions using nuBuilder is likely because many applications developed with it are proprietary and belong to companies or organizations that use them for their internal operations or as part of their services. These custom applications are tailored to the specific needs of the businesses, and as such, they are often not open-source or available for public viewing.

nuBuilder can be customised to look and behave more like a "modern" website. Since nuBuilder is an open-source platform, developers can modify the underlying code, add custom CSS, and include JavaScript libraries to enhance the look and functionality of the applications built using nuBuilder.

While nuBuilder uses PDO, which can also connect to a SQLlite database, the SQL syntax, data types etc. of SQLlite is different from that of MySQL. Therefore, significant modifications may be required to use nuBuilder with SQLlite.
