Problem getting data in descending order

I have a report which list house sales with their respective price and sale date. I do not seem to be able to get the report to list the entires in descending date order. Every time I go to Group Properties and select 'descending' it reverts to ascending when I move the cursor to a new field/cell. Where am I going wrong?
